Treatment and recovery for young adults is more effective when they are surrounded by others their same age. Given the right environment, young adults will respond positively. At Milford Counseling Inc., recovery is tailored for young adults in sobriety to include programming in recovery, responsibility, and recreation.
Women's Program- A program specific for women
The Women's Program provides group and individual therapy designed to assist women in building a strong foundation for recovery and a life free from alcohol and drugs. This group is specifically geared toward women in the process of recovery from chemical dependence and or codependence. Milford Counseling Inc. believes that there are specific needs for women that can be addressed and solved in the Women's Program.
Meta Squad- Adolescent Depression and Anxiety group
For girls and boys, ages 13 to 17, dealing with depression, anxiety or both. Support and education are provided in this unique group as an adjunct to individual therapy.
Adult Depression and Anxiety Group
For both men and women, ages 18 and up, who are primarily dealing with issues of depression and anxiety. This group helps those who feel alone and not understood, either with their own issue or that of a loved one, to develop support and understanding. This group is an adjunct to individual therapy.
Y12SR: Yoga 12 Step recovery
Combines the healing of yoga with the 12 steps. Easy for anyone to participate. Individual attention provided. This group is open to the recovery community and does not require participation in therapy to participate.

This group is specifically geared towards adolescents who are showing signs of being at risk for substance abuse and other maladaptive patterns of behavior. The rogramming For Addolescence program intends to serve as an important adjunct to Individual Therapy during their course of treatment. The adolescent’s coping skills are expected to be enhanced as they interact with others who are adapting to life in healthier ways. We propose to use the fundamentals of peer pressure to sway the group in favor of adopting and implementing the skills taught in the didactic lectures. Issues specific to adolescents are addressed on many levels in a comfortable and open setting.
The New Vision Program - an important adjunct to Individual Therapy
This group is specifically geared towards adolescents who meet criteria for substance abuse or dependence. The adolescent’s coping skills are expected to be enhanced as they interact with other young people living successfully and sober. We propose to use the fundamentals of peer pressure to sway the group in favor of adopting and mplementing the skills taught in the didactic lectures. The group is also useful in creating accountability and a safe place to share ideas and thoughts that would otherwise be unaddressed. Issues specific to adolescents are addressed on many levels in a omfortable and open setting.
The Men's Program-geared toward Men in the process of recovery from chemical dependence or codependence.
The Men's Program provides group and individual therapy designed to assist Men in building a strong foundation for recovery and a life free from alcohol and drugs. Milford Counseling Inc. believes that there are specific needs for Men that can be addressed and solved in the Men's Program.Treat
Domestic Violence Program-
The Milford Counseling Domestic Violence Program has been established to provide services to individuals who have made abusive choices in their relationships which have resulted in acts of domestic violence. We screen for substance dependence and abuse issues that may further complicate the success of the intervention. We hope to address both issues where they arise simultaneously. The group sessions will include education in alcohol and drug use. Biweekly individual sessions will be offered to address the substance use issues for those who require it. The program has been established in compliance with applicable state standards set forth in the “Batterer Intervention Standards for the State of Michigan” created by The Governor’s Task Force on Batterer Intervention Standards June,1988.
Life Skills Program- developing Better Living skills.
Many addicts and alcoholics who have given themselves completely to recovery discover early on in the recovery process that their drinking and drugging was just the surface of many problems to face. The life skills program is designed specifically to help address the needs of newly sober. people who are well on their way to making key life changes and are developing new skills in many areas of their lives. The goal of the life skills program is for the client to achieve a balance between their mind, body and spirit. Mental, physical and spiritual health are the primary focus of the life skills program. The program is designed to fit the needs of the client and emphasizes the importance of the 12 step movement, exercise, diet, goals, recreation, career, education, and finance. The Life Skills Program is a unique and wonderful approach that empowers a newly sober person to finally create the life that their alcoholism and addiction prevented.
Sober Companion-Assist individuals traveling to, and returning from residential treatment Programs.
Our Sober Companions provide support for clients dealing with substance abuse and addiction. We assist individuals traveling to, and returning from, residential treatment programs. We support our client to make lifestyle changes and experience a better quality of life. We want our clients to avoid relapse and end the cycle of multiple trips to treatment. The Sober Companion Program helps assist clients to build a strong foundation of clear cut goals that are necessary for recovery during the critical time after leaving residential treatment. We help our clients be more effective and get back to living a new and sober life.
Educational Program-8 weeks or 1 Day, Alcohol and drug awareness
The mission of the Alcohol and Other Drug Awareness Program is to increase wareness and promote responsible behavior. The Educational Program is a comprehensive History of alcohol, drug abuse and dependency. Special attention is given to the disease concept and the risks of developing alcoholism. The physiology of alcohol and psychotropic substances is explained. This includes alcohol content and the effects of motor functions.
Spice/K2 and Sythetics Program
We have developed a successful comprehensive treatment for those who have become dependent on Sythetic Cannabinoids (Spice/K2) and Cathinodes (Bath Salts). We are addressing the problem in treatment and with family members to be used in the home. We are also bringing psychiatric services to bare with enormous success in alieviating the extreme side effects that this drug is producing.
Milford Counseling Inc. will provide detailed reports for assessments that are timely and thorough. We keep in regular and consistent contact with our referral sources including written monthly progress reports for those referred to treatment. We have worked and developed good relationships with most Local and Circuit Court Probation departments. They trust in our ability to provide good quality services. Milford Counseling Inc has a good reputation of providing quality reports for the D.L.A.D. Assessments include a diagnosis and prognosis. The client will receive recommendations for necessary assistance and an unbiased professional opinion that clarifies a future plan.
